May & June Recap
You know how sometimes life just keeps going, and there’s so much on your to-do list that you want to do but don’t make time to do? Then often times we all just say, “well, oh well, guess that’s not happening!” We’ll I’m here to combat that—to do the things I want to do even if they’re a month or so late, but who cares!!! I set out to make these recap posts, and gosh darn it here we are doing just that (even if it’s a combination of two months haha).
scrapbook update
The other day on my Vlog Channel I talked all about my current scrapbooks and memory keeping projects. So, today I wanted to bring that conversation to my blog, as well, by talking about my current progress on our Honeymoon scrapbook. If you haven’t seen my husband and I’s very first scrapbook together— Our Story scrapbook—then I would highly recommend you read that first before checking out this scrapbook since the sentiments between the two correlate.
3 reasons why you should memory keep
I’m going to start this post out right off the bat by being kind of morbid—what do you want to leave behind when you die? I was listening to a podcast today about scrapbooking and memory keeping in general. They were talking about how they imagine their funeral; the room is filed with scrapbooks and all of the people that they love are flipping through each book and remembering the moments that they captured with bits of paper and tons of photos. This really got me thinking about why I memory keep. Because honestly, I memory keep for this exact reason. I memory keep with the intention of leaving something behind so that future family members can watch my videos, flip through my journals, and glance at my scrapbooks to remember who I was/am.
The Ultimate Beginners Guide to Vlogging
Whether you’re just now interested in vlogging or you’re already doing it, it’s important to remember that your story matters! I am a firm believer in the idea that life is meant to be documented and shared with others. Why you might ask? Well, life is about learning, growing, and obtaining happiness in your every day life, and to me this means documenting what you do on a regular basis so that you can evaluate and relive moments, grow from each experience, and remember memories that helped shape you into the person you are today.
April Recap
April was a month of few accomplishments, but it was a month with much going on. Looking back through my calendar, scrolling through my camera roll, and glancing back at my vlogs on our YouTube channel, I am able to see that I really got a lot done during this past month which makes me happy and content. I have things I want to strive towards this May, and I look back and appreciate April for how it’s pushed me forward.
what's in my camera bag
My camera bag is the bag that I take when I’m filming a wedding, the bag I grab when I want to have all my gear for shooting a more cinematic vlog, or the bag I keep at home simply to store all of my camera gear in so it’s always in one spot. I love this bag, like a lot; it’s the Kelly Moore Libby 2.0 vegan leather tote in Saddle. My mom got it for me during Christmas when it was on a reallllyy good sale, and I told her that she just couldn’t pass it up. This thing is currently my ride or die, so I thought I’d show you what I shove in it on a regular basis.
my new routine
Routines are so important to me. Especially morning routines. They’re a way to kick start your day, keep you on track, and keep you focused on your goals day in and day out. Since moving back to Indiana, my routine has been all over the place—actually, it’s been nonexistent. But, I’ve been working really hard on trying to set a routine this past week, and this is what I’ve come up with.
we sold our house
I’ve been having lots of different emotions these last couple of days. We sold our house—and I’m happy about it, but I’m also really sad about it. I’m happy because selling our house in a matter of two months is a really big accomplishment. We were able to make a teeny tiny bit of profit even though we’ve only been living there for a little over a year. And we were able to move our life to Indiana fully and finally start our adventure here. But I’m sad because I loved that house. I have tons of memories and life changing events that happened in that house. And I’m also scared for our future in Indiana a little bit.
i quit my job
Friday marked my last day as a Cerner employee. After almost three years of technical support work I am grateful for the experience, the knowledge, and the customer service opportunities that I had. I worked with many amazing people and witnessed the constant shift and changes in the company that help it grow. However, I am prepared and excited to embark on my next mission--one that better fits my work style, allows me to be creative, gives me more day-to-day freedom, and puts me and my family first. I am excited to be in charge of my own day, work on projects that have a definitive end, and celebrate more accomplishments. Here's to the future!
a new year's book haul
One of my goals for 2019 (and every year for that matter) is to read more. I always start off so strong at the beginning of the new year, and then taper off and forget to read as the months go by. This year is probably not going to be any different, but I’m still really pumped to be getting back into reading now.
Starting off the new year means rushing to Barnes & Nobel to buy all of the books which will inspire me to read. I’ve also collected a few from Half Priced Books over the past couple of months, so I will show those here as well.
