April Recap

April was a month of few accomplishments, but it was a month with much going on. Looking back through my calendar, scrolling through my camera roll, and glancing back at my vlogs on our YouTube channel, I am able to see that I really got a lot done during this past month which makes me happy and content. I have things I want to strive towards this May, and I look back and appreciate April for how it’s pushed me forward.

a new year's book haul

One of my goals for 2019 (and every year for that matter) is to read more. I always start off so strong at the beginning of the new year, and then taper off and forget to read as the months go by. This year is probably not going to be any different, but I’m still really pumped to be getting back into reading now.

Starting off the new year means rushing to Barnes & Nobel to buy all of the books which will inspire me to read. I’ve also collected a few from Half Priced Books over the past couple of months, so I will show those here as well.

Andrew's Brain | book review

I'm just surprised by how many positive reviews there are on this book. As I've been skimming over some, I realized that E.L. Doctorow is a known and well liked author, and I am curious to know if that is the reason that people are liking this book. Do they just accept that it's good because they've had previously pleasant experiences with this author?

Journal Prompts #2

Two months ago I shared some journaling prompts (here) for those of you who don't really know what to write. These prompts were focused on newbies who might not know what to say to a book of blank pages. I'm going to continue targeting people who might need some inspiration to write some things down by creating these lists of journal prompts on a regular basis.

April Reads

Every month I write a Monthly Reads blog post in which I talk about books I read the previous month and books that I plan to read in the current month. Last month, March, I hit a way--the biggest reading slump I've been in all year. I couldn't even finish a single book. Read more on this post to see how I plan to get out of the slump.

All the Bright Places | book review

The book was nominated for the 2015 Goodreads Choice Award for Young Adult Fiction. And I really wish that I had read it sooner. I rated this book a 4 out of 5 stars, and would definitely recommend this to all young adult readers. The month of February was when I truly just flew through books, and this was another one of those that I read in one sitting. I'm on a roll with one sitting books--like, this one, and this one, and this one.

Wintergirls | book review

I'm seriously becoming a huge fan of Laurie Halse Anderson. Her last book that I read I few through in one sitting, and the same was true about this book. As soon as I started reading Wintergirls one Sunday morning, I could not put it down until I had finished the entire thing. I rated this book 5 out of 5 stars, and I would recommend this to teens and young adults who are interested in novels about teens in real life struggling with real life issues.

My Bullet Journal Daily Pages

A bullet journal is basically any notebook you want turned into everything that you need. For me, it's a place to plan out my day, create to do lists, journal, and take notes. To you a bullet journal might be something completely different. That's the best part about bullet journaling--you make it work for you. This post is going to show you how I personally do my daily pages. I am hoping it inspires you! But by all means, don't forget that a bullet journal is YOURS and you should make it suit you.

A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy #1) | book review

This books was such a disappointment. I actually would not recommend it at all. The author is too detailed on minor characters, events that don't matter, and plot lines that should not have even existed in the first place. The book is absolutely all over the place with at least 5 different things going on at once. I think that in an attempt to be something different than the recently popular vampire novels this book was written to include everything and the kitchen sink!
