Blogmas Day 10 - A home away from home

Welcome to Blogmas, a journal of images and collection of thoughts starting the first of December until Christmas! You can expect a new post every morning of what I accomplished the day before. I am hoping that these posts can be a nice way for me to document this holiday away from family via pictures and little videos.

As I mentioned in yesterday's Blogmas post, Trevor and I were spending this weekend with his family in Kansas. We woke up and got ready for the day, and then Trevor's sister and her family came to visit. The next day is Trevor's mom's birthday, so his little nephew gave her some cute gifts that she opened.

After talking for a bit, and opening gifts, we headed out for lunch at a small town Mexican place called Orozco's Portales Cafe. I always like Mexican places because they can replace meat with beans on almost all of their menu items for vegetarians.

Later that evening Trevor and I decided to put his computer together. He had been sending his parts to his parents place since someone had to be home to sign for them (and we were working during the days that the parts were coming). We were up until 3am working on it, and guess what--it didn't turn on. This often happens with custom builds. It's full of so many different cords and parts, and just one thing can make it not work. We decided that it was too late for further troubleshooting and went to bed. I'll have a full post on the computer build soon.

During the process of building the computer we also got A TON of page outs. Trevor is on call, which means that if a major issue comes in to Cerner about our solution, then he gets a call about it and has to resolve is ASAP. It sucked to get called out, but most of the issues were either not a major issue, or were easy to resolve.

It was kind of a stressful day, but smiling with people that I really enjoy, spending time with people that make me feel like family, and relaxing (sometimes, just a little) is totally worth a long and exhausting weekend.
