Blogging as a form of Memory Keeping (The Memories Podcast Ep. 006)
This week’s episode is pretty special because we have our first ever guest on the podcast! We chatted with Katie Scott, a writer, online content creator, and blogger who has a website called ChasingVibrance.com. Help us in welcoming Katie by checking out her site and giving her social media accounts a follow! Also, unfortunately, I couldn’t join in with the interview this time as I was feeling a little under the weather (stupid migraines), but don’t worry I’m is fine! I will join back in next week’s podcast for sure.
Getting started with Memory Keeping (The Memories Podcast Ep. 002)
In this podcast Katie and I chat about the beginning stages of getting started with Memory Keeping. We explain that getting started can feel pretty overwhelming—you might be wondering what gear you need, what programs to use, how often to do it and how to keep everything organized and safe. So, we’ve have broken it down into a little timeline of what you need to do next.
TEACHING YOU HOW TO DOCUMENT YOUR MEMORIES | I launched a podcast (The Memories Podcast Ep. 001)
Hey! Welcome to The Memories Podcast--a podcast dedicated to helping busy families learn how to document their everyday lives using easy and consistent methods. We’re here to teach you the tried and true methods that we’ve picked up over the years of how to document your everyday moments when life just seems way too busy. We talk about our personal lives, the lessons we’ve learned, and all of the mistakes we may have made along the way. Think of this as your one stop shop for mama gossip, photographer tips and tricks, real life fails and triumphs, and your final reason to whip out the camera.
5 Reasons to get Family Photos Every Year
Lately I’ve been going through lots of family photo albums. I have been spending a lot more time at my Grandma’s house going through old shoeboxes full of pictures and albums that are literally falling apart at the seams. But without fail, whenever I go through these images or show them again to someone else, the world seems to light up one notch. Pictures evoke memories! Even if you can’t personally recall the moment, there’s something about a picture that tells a story of a past time that makes you smile no matter what.
A spring photo bucket list
Oh my gosh the sun is shining and it’s beautiful! Spring is here. You’re noticing the flowers, the warmth, the people going out and getting fresh air. It’s actually one of our favorite times of the year. If you’re looking for some spring inspiration, something fun to do together as a family, a way to document this current moment, then we’ve got you covered.
12 things video can capture but photos cannot (on your wedding day)
While I know that wedding photos are a must, there are certain things that photos just can’t capture the same way that videos can. The posed shots, beautiful still moments, and glimpses of emotion are perfectly captured by a good photographer. But your vows, the first dance, laughter and crying, the speeches given by the most important people to you; all of these things (and so much more) can’t be captured with photos.
Documenting during the holidays
Any fellow memory keeping addicts out there know that the holidays are an excellent time to be scrapbooking, journaling, and taking tons of pictures and video! I find that documenting the holidays can be one of the easiest times, and often times it’s very expected. If you’re new to the memory keeping world, now is a great time to start because for some strange reason people are more okay with you take 100000s of pictures during the holidays than they are any other time.
How can Memory Keeping become a business?
Did you see that post title? I bet you're super curious about how you can turn your passion for capturing memories into a business. How can memory keeping become a business? There are multiple ways: you can start an online store, share your endeavors on YouTube, or even start a business that helps others memory keep too (and so much more). But that's where my focus is--helping others memory keep. I love helping others achieve their memory keeping goals, understand that this doesn't have to be something hard, and that their stories are meant to be captured, documented, and saved.
How to vlog when you have nothing to vlog
I’ve asked a few times on my Instagram if anyone was interested in starting vlogging. And a lot of times I have people reach out who are interested, but almost always they say that they don’t know what to vlog. I think that this can be one of the most daunting things to think about when starting a vlog or YouTube channel. In today’s post I want to talk a bit about how you can use video to create a story, document your every day, and ultimately store these memories for you to relive and rewatch in the future.
becoming the family historian
For me, what first started as a passion project and a hobby has over time become a proud privilege and honor. I am the keeper of the memories, the storyteller of my family’s history, and yes, I am responsible for its passing on to others. I capture the stories of my family members, the experiences that we have together, our thoughts during each mundane day, and I pride myself in this job of keeping my family’s memories alive.
