Fellow Americans, it is with the utmost pride and sincerity that I present this [blog entry] as a living testament and recollection of history in the making during our generation.
Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Danyell! 🎶
Okay, jokes and terrible taste in music aside… Hi! My name’s Danyell, and I’m so glad to have you here reading my blog. Whether you know me in person, or you’ve somehow stumbled upon my blog randomly (which I highly doubt, so please tell me how you got here??!), I want to take the time to really re-introduce myself to anyone who is reading this entry.
In case you missed my last couple of blog posts—I relaunched my blog last week. I wasn’t in love with the way that my previous version of this blog was headed, and because of that, I never felt inspired to get on here and write. I missed just yapping with you all in a way that felt like this was my personal private journal. I wanted to blog like it was 2012 again when I first started this thing. So, here we are!
🔗 If you want to read more about my relaunch, check out these last two blog posts:
Since I’m treating this like a new blog (even though it’s the same old blog with all of my old stuff, just a new facelift), I thought this would be the perfect time to introduce myself and share our 2024 family photos while I’m at it. Before I jump into the family photos that show who I am right now, let’s dive into my past and give you a little backstory.
👩🏼🏫 How this all began
I’ve had a blog since 2012. Well not exactly this one, but A BLOG. It started out as danyellsmiles, then became danyzell, and then just my name: Danyell Lang. I was in college at the time that all of this started, and I loved the idea of having an online journal that I could share with family and friends about what I was up to. I was far away from home, with no friends, and used my online space as a place to just hang out by myself. I absolutely loved working on my blog (it brought me back to my old MySpace days when I first learned to code), so I quickly switched my major to something techy and basically changed my life because of this.
The blog started as a journal, then as my college life progressed it transformed into a space I could use as a portfolio. I would blog about new tech, showcase my ability to write technical tutorials, all while trying to be personal and sharing little tid bits of my life too. I struggled keeping my blog focused on one thing because I’ve always wanted it to be my online space that was just all about me—my goals, passions, and hobbies.
So, after graduating college and securing a job, my passion for tech changed. I still loved to code and design and geek out about Apple products, but I realized that my blog was less about those things and more about keeping a record of my life over time. I liked how I could look through my blog and see how my interests and passions have changed over the years. This was also about the time that I really got into making vlogs on YouTube so I decided to take my blog in a different direction. I changed my focus to teaching others to memory keep. I wanted to teach others how to make their own blogs, write in journals, scrapbook, and vlog their lives.
🥱 Why I don’t want to blog about memory keeping anymore
Just as of early last week, if you would have went to http://danyelllang.com you would have found a polished website designed for busy moms to learn how to document their memories in easy and consistent methods. Memory Keeping is something I’m super passionate about, and I still am! But limiting myself in that way took away my joy for blogging. I constantly felt like my posts were only meant to teach. And what I really missed was just jumping on my blog like back in 2012 and spilling my guts. I’m not sure if this is something people do anymore… but I’m going to.
I think memory keeping is still going to be a huge part of my blog. But instead of teaching you anything about it, I’m just going to show what I’m doing. I want my blog to be my journal to yap in again. I want my blog to be my place to memory keep, not be my place to teach you how to memory keep.
👉🏻 So, here’s what you need to know about me now
This brings me to our current state. A new blog that’s meant to throw it back to the old days when I used to just yap about nonsense on my blog because I wanted to. Honestly, I’m not even sure who blogs anymore. Or who reads blogs. But I’m doing this for me.
Let’s start over. I’m Danyell Lang. If you click on the About link at the top of this page you’ll find even more about me… but let’s give a quick overview here too. I’m an IU graduate who got a corporate job in Kansas where I met my husband, Trevor. We quit our jobs in 2019 and moved back to my hometown in small town Indiana. I started my business called LVP Studios servings couples and families with photography & videography primarily focusing on weddings. And now I do that full-time while being a stay-at-home mom to our two little boys, Greysen and Forrest.
Some fun facts about me:
+Last year I read 100 books!
+I’m probably addicted to coffee, like really really.
+I love ACNH but don’t have much time to play anymore
+I’m an enneagram 3
What’s the future look like for me? Well, hopefully more babies (as long as I can convince my husband). We’re currently in the process of building our dream house which I’m sure I’ll have a whole series about on here too. We are also looking to buy a Class C RV, so if you know of one for sale, hit me up! My husband and I want to travel the states while we homeschool our kids and work when we want to work along the way. Spending time with family is super important to us, so you’ll notice all of these future goals revolve around that.
📸 And now, a look at our yearly family photos
We’ve been getting family photos done every year since Greysen was born. You can see our 2023 photos here, and our 2022 photos here. This year we had my lovely photographer friend Katie of Katie Osborn Photography take them. She used to live near us, but has been living in Florida for that last few years now. However, when she posted she’d be back in town and was wanting to take a few sessions I immediately hit her up. These were taken earlier this year in May. Forrest was only 5 months old, so it’s wild to see how much he’s changed and grown since then. That’s why getting photos done yearly (especially while our kids are so young) is so important to me.
