Good afternoon critters!
I have been up and working on my next video for you all to see about my crazy awesome hair and how I take care of it. It is important to remember that I am not a hairstylist, and that the things I do are just simple methods that work for me. Some people have hair that is temperamental or reacts differently than others, but mine seems to be able to take a lot of damage.
In this video, I fill you all in on my journey of dying one side blonde. When I decided that I wanted my hair to be dyed this way, my head was currently all brown (like the left side of my hair is now). So, I decided that it would be best to go see a professional to bleach it the very first time because I was trying my best not to ruin it. Going in to see a real stylist cost me a lot of money! The next time I needed to dye it I made the brave decision to bleach my hair myself. I went to my local Sally's Beauty Shop and purchased the necessary products. It turned out that I apparently did a good job because my hair is still nice and alive and looking well. (If you would like me to do a post of how I actually dye my hair please make sure to put all requests in the comment section below.)
SO, taking care of my hair. When I take a shower I make sure that my hair is parted down the middle. I do this because I don't want the two colors to bleed together--since they are so drastically different, you would be able to tell if one faded into the other. The same method is applied when I wash and condition my hair. I make sure to wash each side separately in order to prevent fading within each color.
When I went to the salon the very first time I dyed my hair, I made sure to purchase some color stay shampoo, therefore, I could get the maximum amount of time out of each color before I had to dye it again. My personal favorite shampoo and conditioner set is by Matrix, and it is from their Biolage Colorcarethérapie Line.
When I get out of the shower I just throw my hair in a towel (nothing special). But then, when my hair is only a little damp I apply a conditioning serum. The one that I swear by is by Paul Mitchell, its their Super Skinny Serum. All you need is one pump, about a dime size, for your whole head! I make sure to focus it on the ends of my hair, as well as, over half of the pump on my blonde side. The serum is like a conditioning treatment and really helps keep my bleached hair nice. It also leaves my hair smooth and frizz-free all day long!
When styling my hair, I make sure to choose whether I am going to straighten it or blow dry it. Applying too much heat on any hair is bad, and considering mine is partially damaged all ready, I want to take care of it the best that I can. However, I have done both before when I am in too much of a hurry just to let my hair air dry before I straighten it. My hair didn't seem to feel or look affected by the heat too much, but I know that deep down if I continue doing that to my hair then I would ruin it. So, I try my best not to.
That's about it for how I take care of my hair on a regular basis. If you have any suggestions, comments, or questions make sure to leave them in the section below. Have you done anything fun with your hair before?
