Hi, how were your holidays?
It’s been a minute, huh? I posted before the holidays that I was going to be taking a break from our weekly update posts which ultimately led to me basically taking an entire break from this blog. Nothing surprising to be honest. We were SWAMPED this holiday season with travel, family gatherings, and just general life craziness that happens around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year. But we’re back baby!! And I wanted to give you a little life update on some things you might have missed.

life lately | taking a break from weekly updates
You’re due for a weekly update, but honestly not a whole lot of excitement has happened on our end. Playdates, library trips, and wrangling two kids is really all that’s happened. We did recently celebrate Forrest’s turning one while in Indiana (he’s not quite one yet, but we’ll be in Kansas for his birthday so we wanted to do something here before we left). I’ll be most likely posting a blog showcasing everything from his birthday though, so be on the lookout for that. Anyways, this post isn’t going to be long, but I wanted to give you all a quick update and let you know that I won’t be carrying on the regular weekly updates like normal during the holiday season. I’ll be sharing more topical updates as holidays happen, but nothing that showcases specific week by weeks.

halloween & anniversary trip | wk. 44 recap
I’m frantically typing this because I feel like I’m running behind in everything lately. I haven’t posted consistently on instagram in weeks, my weddings that I need to finish are starting to pile up, and my kids are exhausting me each and every day. If I’m being honest, I just want to type up this blog post and get it out as quick as possible. I considered skipping, but this recap shares some of the most fun things we’ve done all month, so I knew I couldn’t skip out on sharing all of that. Just please excuse the rush if you read this and notice any typos.

playdates, new furniture, & date nights| wk. 43 recap
These weekly recaps force me to look back on the events of the week and reflect on what was accomplished. Sometimes the things that I did during the week directly impact my work and show achievements that way, and other weeks the achievements come from the quality family and friends time we have. It’s truly a balance, and not a single week is the same. Kids have really changed my life in that way because b.c. (before children) I would have had similar days and weeks and just trudged through my normal routines. But since having children I cannot plan for hardly anything, routines are nearly nonexistent, and each day and week is definitely not the same anymore.

in the thicc of work | wk. 42 recap
Fall is busy season for photographers, so we’re really in the thick of work over here. It’s stressful and overwhelming, and while I’ll probably spend a lot of my fall days complaining about how I don’t have enough time to get all of the things done that I need to, I am super grateful for the work that I get to do. I mean, I bust my booty June-October just to do nearly nothing all of the other months in between. 🤷🏼♀️
