Our Love Story Is Basically a Romance Novel: The Tropes That Describe Us
Near the end of September was our anniversary, which feels like the perfect excuse to officially review the longest-running romance novel of my life. ππ
The tropes are strong with this one:
β¨ Workplace romance
β¨ Fast paced
β¨ Forced proximity
β¨ He fell first
β¨ Two nerds
And honestly? The plot has been WILD.
We started as two nerdy coworkers who probably had no idea they were standing at the beginning of a very long story. Then somehow came dating, engagement, marriage, babies, businesses, houses, approximately 47,000 inside jokes, and enough plot twists to make me suspicious that our author has absolutely no idea how to give her characters a peaceful chapter. π
But if I could go back and read the story from the beginning, knowing everything that was coming, I wouldnβt skip a single chapter.
I love that these photos show so many different versions of us. The two people who were just figuring each other out. The engaged version of us. The newlyweds. The parents. The people who have built businesses and a family together. The people who have changed a lot while somehow still feeling so much like those same two nerds who fell in love all those years ago.
There have been easy chapters and hard ones. Funny ones and exhausting ones. Chapters that felt completely romantic and chapters that felt more like survival mode. But through all of them, Iβve gotten to keep doing this life with my favorite person.
So hereβs to another year of our little romance novel. β€οΈ
Hopefully the next chapter includes a little more uninterrupted main-character time, a new setting π‘, maybe a new side character, and just a tiny bit of a slower pace. π
Happy anniversary, Trevor. Iβd choose this story every single time. ππ€
