May 2021 Recap -- baby stuff, lots of weddings, and podcast breaks
Whew! Another month down? Wow, things are flying by. I can’t believe that in 3 short months we will have a newborn. There’s so much to do and so little time. My wedding schedule during the month of May consumed me and felt like it took up all of my time (which weddings typically do). There’s the planning for a wedding, prepping for the big day, working all day on my feet, being exhausted the following day, and then spending the next day catching up before I have to do it all over again. If I were to describe my May that’s what I would tell you it felt like—exhausting.
April 2021 Recap -- branding, weddings, surgery, and more
These months are flying by. I have been fortunate to be very busy during this season of life, but that also means I’m feeling a bit of overwhelm as well. As I keep busy with so many business related things, I find that I am actually doing pretty well with personal related things too. The only item in my life that someone may consider to be falling on the wayside is keeping a tidy home (but I have my whole life for that, right? haha).
Why telling stories with video is powerful
Video is so powerful because it draws people in, holding their attention spans and making them feel invested in what’s happening. It’s impactful because it allows you to share emotions with others and show them certain aspects of your life. Telling stories using video allows whoever you’re sharing these video clips with to truly relate to you in a visual, auditory, and otherwise emotional way.
4 steps for being in your own Photos & Videos (The Memories Podcast Ep. 005)
In this episode of The Memories Podcast, Katie and I give you a pep talk on confidence and chat about the four ways that you can easily get yourself in front of the camera. We talk about the importance of getting yourself in your own photos and videos, times in which we had wished we had been in our own images more, and some of the things that we do to achieve that now.
12 things video can capture but photos cannot (on your wedding day)
While I know that wedding photos are a must, there are certain things that photos just can’t capture the same way that videos can. The posed shots, beautiful still moments, and glimpses of emotion are perfectly captured by a good photographer. But your vows, the first dance, laughter and crying, the speeches given by the most important people to you; all of these things (and so much more) can’t be captured with photos.
My 2019 rewind -- a look into my camera roll
This is my 2019 recap through my camera roll. I was trying to do this on a monthly basis for awhile, so I’m really excited to see everything from 2019 in one glance. I take TONS of pictures, and this should be fun. Can you guess home many pictures I took in 2019?? My iPhone camera roll is telling me 4,180… but I know it’s more than that if you count all of the weddings, family session, and business type work I did. Whew, it’s been a year!
Documenting during the holidays
Any fellow memory keeping addicts out there know that the holidays are an excellent time to be scrapbooking, journaling, and taking tons of pictures and video! I find that documenting the holidays can be one of the easiest times, and often times it’s very expected. If you’re new to the memory keeping world, now is a great time to start because for some strange reason people are more okay with you take 100000s of pictures during the holidays than they are any other time.
5 reasons you need a videographer at your wedding
If you have a wedding coming up you probably have a checklist of vendors you need to book, things you need to buy, and hundred of to-do’s that you need to accomplish. One of those things on your list may be a wedding videographer. Now, you may be debating whether or not a wedding videographer is something that you need to be spending your money on, so I am going to tell you the five reasons that you really do need a videographer at your wedding.
May & June Recap
You know how sometimes life just keeps going, and there’s so much on your to-do list that you want to do but don’t make time to do? Then often times we all just say, “well, oh well, guess that’s not happening!” We’ll I’m here to combat that—to do the things I want to do even if they’re a month or so late, but who cares!!! I set out to make these recap posts, and gosh darn it here we are doing just that (even if it’s a combination of two months haha).
what's in my camera bag
My camera bag is the bag that I take when I’m filming a wedding, the bag I grab when I want to have all my gear for shooting a more cinematic vlog, or the bag I keep at home simply to store all of my camera gear in so it’s always in one spot. I love this bag, like a lot; it’s the Kelly Moore Libby 2.0 vegan leather tote in Saddle. My mom got it for me during Christmas when it was on a reallllyy good sale, and I told her that she just couldn’t pass it up. This thing is currently my ride or die, so I thought I’d show you what I shove in it on a regular basis.
