Wanna be book besties?
If I saw you reading any of these books in public I would immediately want to be your friend. What you’re reading says a bit about a person… and if I saw you reading any of these I’d want to get to know you more!
There are some books that instantly make me think, "Yep... we'd get along." Maybe it's because books are tiny windows into the things that make us laugh, cry, swoon, or stay up until 2 a.m. promising ourselves "just one more chapter." Whatever the reason, if I spotted you reading any of these in a coffee shop, airport, bookstore, or park, I'd probably be trying to work up the courage to start a conversation.
If you're reading “Bride” by Ali Hazelwood, I already know you appreciate witty banter, unconventional romance, and a little supernatural chaos. If it's “A False Start” or “Wild Side” or basically anything by Elsie Silver, I'm guessing you love emotionally mature characters, irresistible chemistry, and stories that somehow feel both comforting and addictive.
Seeing “A Theory of Dreaming” by Ava Reid or “One Dark Window” by Rachel Gillig would tell me you're drawn to beautifully written, atmospheric fantasy with just the right amount of darkness. And if “The Knight and the Moth” is in your hands? We're probably about to spend an hour talking about gothic worlds and unforgettable characters, Bartholomew. For the romance readers, “Wretched” by Emily McIntire has just enough darkness that I’m not scared of you, but also know we’d be freaks together too.
If you’re mixing your romance and fantasy like “Shield of Sparrows” by Devney Perry, “The Never King” by Nikki St. Crowe, and “Never” by Jessa Hastings I’ll know you're not afraid of morally gray characters, emotional rollercoasters, or stories that linger long after you've turned the final page (plus you might have a small obsession with Peter Pan).
Books don't tell me everything about a person—but they tell me enough to spark a conversation. So if I ever see you carrying one of these, don't be surprised if I smile and say, "Okay... we should probably be friends."
These are the stories that get me 🕯️📖 Gothic atmosphere, fantasy worlds that feel lived-in 🏰🌒, and just enough romance to ache a little 🥀✨ If you ever wonder what defines me as a reader, it’s books like these… the ones that linger in my mind long after the last page 🖤
Tell me: what’s a book you’d give six stars??
