Meet Danielle | Blogger Series
I really love meeting bloggers who are trying to do something different or make a change. Today I'm talking with Danielle--she wants to make fashion affordable. I love all of her outfit posts on her blog, and the best part is that I feel like I can totally go out and purchase the same things. Fashion bloggers often forget that we don't all have a fashion budget, so I love Danielle's take on this!
Meet Danielle!
First off, tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog.
I am a recent graduate from Eckerd College with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. I hope to become a cardiovascular surgeon! Even though I am really into science and want to become a surgeon, I love fashion. I really have so many clothes its not even funny. I have always been a shopaholic and that will never change about me. I am also from Atlanta, GA, and I love telling people about my home and giving them a reason to come here. I named my blog Sparkling Southerner because I love all things sparkly and glittery and I am such a southerner--except I don't have the accent.
What inspired you to start blogging originally?
I started my blog over the summer after graduating because I was really into Instagram and started following fashion and style bloggers which is what got me interested in starting my own blog. I am always asking someone to take a photo of my outfit so I thought I could turn that into showing more than just my friends my outfit and give more details and include where I bought the items!
How did you got where you are?
I honestly have read a lot of blog posts and emailed some other bloggers (many did not respond) to get some insight on how to get my blog to a higher level. I don't make any money off of it, which I would like to change, but I haven't found good reliable information for free, so until I am able to purchase the things that will get me to that level, I will just keep doing what I am doing! I found that engaging people on social media has really increased my follower count as well as joining Facebook groups of blogger communities. I still do not know how people get their blogs to have 10 thousands of readers and followers or likes. It seems unrealistic so I want to figure out their secret. Once I find out I will let everyone else know who is struggling just like me.
What do you hope to achieve with your blog?
I hope to show people that there are bloggers out there that do not have the money to have thousand dollar handbags and t-shirts that cost over $100. I feel like a lot of the top bloggers I follow have all these things that cost loads of amounts of money. I know that you can make money through blogging and maybe they have earned a lot of the things they wear, but its unrealistic for the average person to actually click on their link and purchase the same item because of the price. Some of them are married to doctors and can just spend that much money. I am really not sure, but I wish I was able to have the things they have! With all that being said the majority of the items I post about are within the range of $100. I buy things on sale or from outlet stores and I do not have any thousand dollar purses (I wish).
How has blogging changed your life?
It has made me see that there are so many things you can blog about and there are so many niches to fit into. I feel like it has made me engage in writing which I was not doing with my scientific studies. I was never really writing papers other than lab reports and I know that blogging isn't exactly writing a novel or anything amazing, but at least its getting me to write an article and use that skill more than I was doing before. I have also somewhat changed my style as an influence from other bloggers just because I haven't seen some of the closed styled in the way that they have styled. It also makes me feel like I actually do have style because I get such good feedback. There is nothing better than getting a compliment on your outfit!
As always, I want to give a BIG thank you to Danielle for blogging here today! She is such a fashionista, and I love how her outfits are affordable yet stylish! I hope you all can take a look at her blog and find some fashion that speaks to you. Please don't forget to check her out and let her know that you found her via Danyell Bailey's Blog--I'm sure she'd love that!
