Roll Out of Bed with Success

Waking up in the morning can be a struggle, but starting your day off right really makes a difference. Creating a morning routine is key, but how can you make that routine if you can't even will yourself out of bed? My secrets: drink good coffee that you love, prepare the night before, and don't allow yourself to hit that snooze button. Becoming a morning person can really help with creating a healthy lifestyle.

My previous post was all about why a morning routine is the best thing for you. I talked about my personal morning routine and gave some amazing pointers on how to create one that works for your lifestyle. But then I realized, not everyone can just suddenly be a morning person and wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed. To make the most of your day, you need to start your morning off right. So, these are a couple of my tips for becoming a wide awake morning person.

Find a good coffee for your mornings.

The reason this works is because it gives you something to look forward to! Vanilla Bean Coffee? Starbucks K-Cup? Whatever you're loving at the moment make sure you've got it in your house. When I wake up and make a warm pot, I instantly feel better. And then those days when I don't want to get out of bed, I just think about that tasty pot of black gold that I love and then waking up doesn't suck so much.

I have a Keurig and love all of the K-Cups that they offer. The Original Donut Shop flavor is probably one of my favorites, so I like to make sure I have that ready to go! Besides the wonderful taste, it has an amazing smell that just heats up and makes my whole home feel alive. Waking up to coffee could cure anyone's lazy blues.

Organize your stuff the night before.

Lay out your clothes, check your schedule, create your to do lists, and pack your bags! Not only will this help you sleep with ease, but your mornings will go so much more smoothly. I don't mind getting up and starting my day when I know that I don't have to rush around finding everything that I need. When I know that it will be stress free, I am definitely more likely to do it. You've probably heard this tip over and over again, but that's because it works!

Don't hit the snooze button.

You're looking at me like, "uh duh, if I want to be a morning person I've got to get up." But, this is one of the hardest things for me. I like to set my alarm clock early so I can hit snooze three or four times before I finally crawl out of bed. However, what I need to do is just get it done and over with and wake up because no matter how many times I hit snooze it still sucks to pry those eyes open.

One of the best tips I've ever heard is to put your alarm clock across the room. This forces you to get up and turn it off, and if you're up already you're more likely to just stay up. I use my phone for my alarm clock, so I like this tip also because it really encourages me to turn that technology off and go to bed the night before.

Are you a morning person? I'm working on becoming a better one, so if you've got some tips or tricks make sure to comment them below. Being a morning person can really help you jump start your healthy lifestyle, so why not give it a try.
